We strive to conform to Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA success criteria, the international standard for web accessibility. This commitment aligns with the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, which Zambia has ratified.

Our Accessibility Commitment

  1. Conformance Status: Our website partially conforms to WCAG 2.1 AA. We conduct ongoing audits using automated tools (e.g., WAVE, axe) and manual testing with assistive technologies like screen readers (NVDA, JAWS).

  2. Key Features Implemented:

    • Keyboard-navigable navigation and forms.

    • Alt text for images, including diagrams of albinism-related resources.

    • High-contrast color schemes and resizable text (up to 200% without loss of functionality).

    • Captions for videos on advocacy and education.

    • Semantic HTML for screen reader compatibility.

Known Limitations and Roadmap

While we aim for full compliance, some legacy content (e.g., older PDFs) may not meet all criteria. We are addressing this through:

  1. Quarterly audits and remediation.

  2. Training for staff on accessible content creation.

  3. Integration of accessibility in our content management system.

Future plans include adopting WCAG 2.2 updates and mobile app accessibility.
